The Conservative Take: Upholding Rule of Law and Securing Our Nation
July 9, 2025 - As we navigate the complexities of modern America, today's news once again highlights the ongoing battle to uphold the rule of law and secure our nation's borders. While progress is being made, challenges persist, demanding unwavering commitment to conservative principles.
One of the most significant headlines today comes from the Supreme Court, which issued a decision regarding a portion of Florida's immigration law. While the Court left in place a lower court's decision to block certain aspects of the state law concerning undocumented immigrants crossing into Florida, this does not diminish the critical importance of states' rights in addressing the border crisis. The ruling underscores the need for robust federal action to secure our borders, a responsibility that falls squarely on Washington. Florida, and other states on the front lines, are simply attempting to mitigate the severe consequences of a porous border when the federal government fails to act decisively.
The issue of immigration, particularly the question of mass deportation, remains a defining topic for the American people. Recent polling data from earlier this year (February-March 2025) provides valuable insight. A Pew Research Center survey indicated that roughly one-third of U.S. adults (32%) believe all immigrants living in the country illegally should be deported, with about half (51%) saying at least some should face deportation. Support for deportation is significantly higher among Republicans, with 54% in favor of deporting all illegal immigrants, compared to just 10% of Democrats. An Axios/Ipsos poll from January 2025 similarly found that two-thirds of Americans (66%) support deporting immigrants who are in the country illegally as a general concept, though support declines when specific, more challenging methods of deportation are introduced. While the pathways and logistics remain debated, the underlying sentiment among a substantial portion of the populace is clear: illegal immigration must be addressed, and enforcement is key.
On the economic front, the nation continues to grapple with challenges. Recent polls indicate that a majority of Americans believe the economy is "not so good" or "poor," with a significant portion expecting it to worsen in the coming year. This sentiment is a stark reminder of the need for policies that prioritize American workers and businesses, fostering an environment of growth and opportunity, rather than burdening taxpayers with the costs associated with uncontrolled immigration and excessive government spending.
Regarding the President's approval, the latest data from June 2025, according to Gallup, shows his job approval rating stands at 40%. Other polls in late June and early July show figures ranging slightly higher, but generally indicate that while strong among his base, the President's overall approval remains a point of contention for many. This highlights the ongoing need for the administration to double down on the policies that resonate with conservative voters – economic growth, border security, and a strong national defense – and to continue to fight against the progressive agenda that undermines our nation's foundational values.
